Gewehr 43 (Gew 43) was a development from an earlier German semiautomatic rifle, the Gewehr 41 (Gew 41), which saw very limited service during WWII. However, the Gew 43 saw extensive service, although production numbers were never close to sufficient to equip the majority of Wehrmacht units with a G43. At the beginning of Operation Barbarossa in 1941, the Wehrmacht realized the widespread use of semiautomatic rifles in the Red Army, and as a result, Walther implemented a gas system from captured Tokarev SVT-40 rifles to add to their existing semiautomatic rifle, the Gew 41. The result was the Gew 43, which was produced in relatively-decent quantities (349,278, plus an additional 54,435 with the Gew 43ZF with ZF41 optical sights) although output was never enough to make the Gew 43 a replacement for the Kar 98k. Instead, it got a reputation for being a sniper rifle, and it is true that some German snipers used G43s in a range of 800 meters or fewer. The Gew 43ZF (G43ZF) version was made for snipers, who used them in combat, despite the shorter range it had (in comparison with the Mauser Kar 98 variants). A replica of the scope is available from us, and we also supply the complete sniper version G43ZF.

This fine replica from Japan has a full wood and metal construction that will appease many collectors and reenactors, alike. It can cycle and eject dummy cartridges like a real G43. The weapon possesses realistic disassembly and fully-functional features such as loading, cocking and firing. This is an extremely realistic model.

* The scope is not included with the gun. More information
